Blog Rot!

I have been neglecting this blog. Call it a bit of blog burnout, busy or whatever. I have noticed quite a few other bloggers going through phases of burnout as well. They just stop posting. Maybe it is at that point in the “blogosphere” that some people have been doing it long and often enough to need a break. For me I just have had too much on my plate!

When a blog sits for too long it starts to develop “Blog Rot". I don’t like to see it. Some folks are getting friends or partners to sub for them. I find it strange reading someone elses posts on someones personal blog. It doesn’t seem to affect some less personlized blogs. Mine would probably fall into that category. I just don’t have time to find an “alternate blogger".

I’ll just have to make some time!

Will Google take over Fiber Optic Networks?

Some say Google is already close to being the most dominant media company in the world with their stock price nearing $300 and valuation at $80 billion, surpassing Time Warner at $78 billion.

Now Google could be trying to take over the fiber optic networks that have were laid in the early to mid 80’s by telecom companies like MCI and Sprint. Many of these networks not currently in use, also known as “dark networks".

A recent job posting a Google’s website indicated they are getting ready for something huge - “Google is looking for Strategic Negotiator candidates with experience in…(i)dentification, selection, and negotiation of dark fiber contracts".

The huge potential bandwidth, 50 THz or more, of fiber optic technology opens up the possibilities for applications on a whole different level.

Googles rel=nofollow not slowing blog spam

It seems that Google’s rel=nofollow attribute hasn’t slowed blog spammers. It may in fact have prompted the blog spammers to blast blogs even harder hoping to hit the many that still aren’t using rel=nofollow.

I and many others have resorted to turning off commenting in our blogs. It’s a shame that it has come to this. Unfortunately I started blogging just about the same time the spammers started attacking.

I believe this has made it hard for new blogs/bloggers to get started. Many new bloggers have been discouraged and post much less often, especially when they have to turn off comments.

Google Chef Leaving

The chef for Google, Charlie Ayers, who was once the chef for The Grateful Dead, is leaving to open his own chain of healthy food restaurants in the Valley. The chef will be greatly missed by Google employees and business partners alike. People are known to try to schedule lunch meetings at Google just so they could enjoy his cooking. Now everyone will be able to enjoy his cooking, but you’ll have to pay for your lunch!

Charlie no doubt has enough Google stock options to fund his new venture, plus.
